Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) suggested to extend the current scope of work from >25,000btuh to < 50,000btuh single split range, to >50,000btuh all single/multi splits products range, so as to have a comprehensive framework for the development of MEPS for commercial and industrial air conditioner.
However, all stakeholder informed that developing performance criteria for multi split air conditioner would be difficult because due to varies parameters to be considered. The meeting agreed to focus on the single split air conditioner first.


The meeting agreed on the above proposed valued, but Ir TL Chen instructed MACRA to organize a meeting in order to discuss the above data with all stakeholders. The Chairperson informed that the implementation of MEPS will not wait for Standards Malaysia documents to be published, instead it will be regulated by Energy Commission (EC), estimated schedule by 2020. Chairperson also informed that for testing purposes, only 3rd party report from accredited laboratory will be accepted just like current practice for COA application.
