Report: The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ryan Ooi Chean Weai, Chief Assistant Senior Director, Air Division, Department of Environment, Ministry of Environment And Water, Malaysia. The meeting started with an introduction of the members present in this meeting. Mr. Ryan Ooi gave an overview of today’s meeting and invited a Tri Ecoedge Sdn Bhd consultant to present the HFC usage survey findings. And then follow by sharing sessions from MFPA, MAA and MASHRAE.
MASHRAE representative, Ts. Ng Wen Bin reported that in Malaysia, 1-6 Hp of air conditioner split type have both R410A and R32 because, for certain applications like in the oil and gas industry, petrol stations are required R410A air conditioner instead of R32 unit. For air conditioners, more than 6 Hp units’ working fluid is R410A only, especially for VRF and package products. This is due to IEC regulations which have limitations on the refrigerant charge in the air conditioner. The discussion that followed, covered areas of refrigerants in refrigeration systems for medium, low temperature and ultra-low temperature applications. Besides this, we also discuss the refrigerants used in heat pump systems for cooling and heating and heat pump for hot water systems.
Mr. Ryan Ooi thanked the association representatives for attending this meeting and the meeting ended at 6 pm.
