The ICBE&S 2026 Student Projects Poster Presentation & Competition provides a platform for students from universities and higher learning institutions to showcase their academic projects, research, innovations, designs, and solutions related to the built environment, engineering, sustainability, energy, environmental studies, technology, and related fields.
The programme aims to encourage students to transform academic knowledge into practical solutions, communicate their work effectively, and engage with academics, researchers, industry professionals, and fellow students.
Participants will have the opportunity to present their projects through a professional poster exhibition and interact directly with a panel of judges and conference delegates.
1. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
The competition is open to students currently enrolled in:

Universities

Colleges and higher learning institutions

Polytechnics
-
Community colleges
-
Technical and vocational institutions
-
Other recognised higher education institutions
Participation is open to both Malaysian and international students.
Eligible projects may be submitted by:

Diploma students

Undergraduate students
-
Postgraduate students
-
Final Year Project (FYP) students
-
Research project students
-
Student innovation/project teams
Projects may be individual or team-based.
2. PROJECT CATEGORIES
Projects may cover, but are not limited to, the following areas:
Built Environment
Architecture, building design, construction, quantity surveying, property, facilities management, urban planning and related fields.
Engineering & Technology
Civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental, chemical, computer, software, automation, IoT, AI and other engineering disciplines.
Sustainability & Environment
Sustainable development, climate action, environmental protection, waste management, water, biodiversity, circular economy and green technologies.
Energy & Building Performance
Energy efficiency, renewable energy, smart buildings, building performance, energy management and low-carbon technologies.
Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Innovative products, prototypes, digital solutions, business models, social innovation and technology-based solutions.
Other Related Student Projects
Projects that demonstrate a clear connection to the themes and objectives of ICBE&S 2026 are also welcome.
3. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Each project team is required to submit project information through the official ICBE&S 2026 Student Projects Poster Submission Form.

4. POSTER PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS
Participants whose projects are accepted for the competition will be required to display their poster during the designated Student Projects Poster Presentation session.
Each participating team should:

Display the approved poster at the assigned location.
-
Have at least one student presenter available during the judging session.
-
Provide a concise explanation of the project to the judges.
-
Be prepared to answer questions from the judging panel.
-
Demonstrate clear knowledge and ownership of the project.
-
Ensure that the poster is professionally presented and readable from a reasonable viewing distance.
5. AWARD CATEGORIES
The ICBE&S 2026 Student Projects Poster Presentation will recognise outstanding student projects through four award levels:
GOLD AWARD
SILVER AWARD
BRONZE AWARD
MERIT AWARD
6. SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Submission Opens: 15 September 2026
Submission Deadline: 11 October 2026
Acceptance Notification: 15 October 2026
Poster Presentation Date: 23 October 2026
Participants are encouraged to submit their projects early as the number of poster presentation spaces may be limited.
IMPORTANT TERMS & CONDITIONS

The submitted project must be the original work of the participating student(s).

The project may be an academic project, final year project, research project, design project, prototype, innovation or related student project.

Participants are responsible for ensuring that their project does not infringe copyright, intellectual property or other legal rights.
-
Where a project involves research involving human participants, animals or confidential data, the student/institution is responsible for obtaining the appropriate approval.
-
The organiser reserves the right to reject submissions that do not meet the competition requirements.
-
The organiser reserves the right to request amendments to posters that do not comply with the required format.

Judges' decisions are final.
-
The organiser reserves the right to modify the programme, criteria, schedule or award arrangements where necessary.

Participants grant ICBE&S 2026 permission to display submitted project titles, photographs and non-confidential project information for event publicity and reporting purposes.
-
Students should ensure that any confidential, commercially sensitive or unpublished intellectual property is appropriately protected before submission.
