UTAR ASHRAE Student Branch (BR306) was established on June 27, 2011 under the mentorship of MASHRAE’s Ir. Low Han Guan, Den who also served on UTAR Industry Advisory Panel at that time. The first Student Branch Advisor was Ts. Dr. King Yeong Jin. The student branch has organized and participated in numerous activities including Green Building seminars, ASHRAE Region XIII Chapters Regional Conference, overseas industrial training, ASHRAE Runs, ASHRAE Conventus (Design competition), and Chapter events (annual dinner, networking night, annual general meeting, etc). The student branch alumni are also actively involved in ASHRAE activities at the local chapter as well as regional and society levels. Ts. Dr. King Yeong Jin received the 2017 Student Branch Advisor of the Year thanks to the great effort and support from the student members. Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Bernard Saw Lip Huat has been appointed as the student branch advisor in July 2023.
