| Report: | This is the inaugaral meeting for the next round of Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for air-conditioning equipment. |
| Currently, there is a MEPS for residential splits up to 32,000 Btu/hr. Today’s meeting was held to determine the next group of equipment to target to implement MEPS. | |
| Based on feedback from everyone present, it was generally decided that Chillers would not be the next group of equipment targetted due to several factors including contribution to overall market contribution to annual refrigeration tonnage and the need to consider system EUI instead of standalone chiller performance | |
| Instead, the group suggested to look into improving MEPS for package splits including ACSU’s (greater than 32,000 Btu/hr), ACPUs and WCPUs | |
| The team will regroup on 3rd week of September after the necessary annual sales data has been compiled by MACRA. |
