| Report: | Event Overview: The 1st World Refrigeration Day was successfully organized by University Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI) in collaboration with the ASHRAE Malaysia Chapter. The event took place on 16 July 2024 and featured a series of technical seminars, exhibitions, and networking opportunities. The primary focus of the day was to highlight the importance of refrigeration technologies, alternative refrigerants, and their applications in the industry. VIP Guests: We were honored to have the presence of distinguished guests, including Tuan Haji Shafe'ee Yasin, Enforcement Division Director from the Department of Environment, and Mr. Ryan Ooi, Principal Assistant Director of the Air Division from the Department of Environment. Their attendance underscored the event's significance and the collaborative efforts between educational institutions and government bodies in promoting sustainable refrigeration practices. Copeland Technical Seminar: The seminar comprised five insightful topics presented by experts in the field: 1. Alternative Refrigerants – Challenges & Opportunities presented by Ts. NG Wen Bin (UniKL MFI) 2. CO2 Technology and Applications presented by Mr. Kwan Chee Wei (BITZER (Southeast Asia) Sdn. Bhd) 3. Refrigeration & Ammonia presented by Mr. Chew SJ (NRS Process Systems Sdn Bhd) 4. HC Natural Refrigerant - The Perfect Alternative Refrigerant with GWP-3 for Better Environmental Protection presented by Ferdinand NG (Ener-Save Sdn Bhd) 5. The Application of a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Model in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems presented by Dr. Ahmad Siroji (UniKL MFI) The seminar was attended by 57 participants from various industries, providing a platform for sharing knowledge and discussing advancements in refrigeration technology. Exhibition and Participants: The event also featured an exhibition with numerous booths showcasing the latest refrigeration technologies and products. A total of 295 students, lecturers, and instructors from vocational colleges, IKM, ILP, and KKTM visited the exhibition. This provided an excellent opportunity for students and educators to interact with industry professionals and learn about the latest developments in the refrigeration sector. Conclusion: The World Refrigeration Day 2024 was a resounding success, thanks to the collaborative efforts of UniKL MFI, ASHRAE Malaysia Chapter, and our esteemed sponsors. The event facilitated valuable discussions on sustainable refrigeration practices, highlighted innovative technologies, and fostered connections between academia and industry. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, speakers, and sponsors for their contributions and support.
